The Basement and Potty Training

I just wanted to share some exciting news. Since we are getting a decent tax return, we have decided to finish most of the basement. Yea! I'm so excited to ship all of the toys downstairs to the playroom and to not have the hundreds of toys crowding our living room. Also, we will be finishing a family room down there which will free up a lot of space upstairs. We just finished the electrical, and we will be starting the sheetrock when we receive our tax return. I will definitely post a picture of it when it is all finished.

On to more exciting news: Dillon is finally potty trained (well mostly). I'm really embarrassed to admit this, but Dillon turned three in October and as of last Monday, he still hadn't gone pee pee in the potty. He is just one of those stubborn and sensitive little boys that does not adapt well to change. At first, he refused to even put on "big boy pants," but when I finally convinced him to wear them, he would hold his pee in for eight or nine hours at a time. I knew that that was definitely not healthy, so I would put a diaper on him. Well, starting on Monday, I was bound and determined to get him potty trained. So, during the day, I noticed that he had to go to the bathroom. I quickly put him on his little potty seat and once again, he refused to go. I decided to distract him so that maybe it would just come out. We spelled his name many times, counted the fish on the shower curtain, and even counted the tiles on the floor. Soon enough, he started peeing. He was so excited. He ended up going a couple of more times that day and he has only had a couple of accidents (one of them was a no.2). I am so happy and proud of him. Potty training has definitely been the biggest challenge for me thus far, and I am so excited to have finally experienced some success at it.
