Sick Kids

For those of you that know me well, you know that I am a major germaphobe. Ever since I have had kids, I will not go anywhere without my bottle of hand sanitizer. The reason why I am like this is because I hate, with a passion, dealing with sick kids. It seems like whenever my kids get sick, which is not very often due to my obsession with hand cleanliness, my week is full of expensive copays at the doctor's office, very clingy and fussy kids, and absolutely no sleep. Well, this week I have experienced this dreaded nightmare.

Dillon came down with a bad cold on Sunday, and when Dillon gets a cough, he tends to gag almost everytime he hacks. It is horrible during the night because he gets into these coughing fits that last for 20-30 minutes at a time. Luckily, his cough has subsided somewhat and he is doing a lot better. On Monday, Braylon started running a high fever and had a runny nose. I thought that maybe he was teething because he was drooling quite a bit and chewing on all of his sippy cups. Well, after a couple of sleepless nights, I decided to take him to the doctor on Wednesday. The doctor diagnosed him with croup and prescribed him a steroid. Well, giving a 20 month-old a steroid is not an easy task to say the least, but we have gotten through the struggle and now only have one dose left to give him. He is still hacking pretty badly, but hopefully we are over the worst of it. Unfortunately, now Sadie has come down with a bad cough and we are hoping that it doesn't lead to any breathing issues. Sorry for the depressing post, but I just wanted to say that it is hard and tiring being a mom sometimes. Things can only get better.
