Easter Fun and The Hogle Zoo

Wow! I can't believe that it is already May. It seems like yesterday that I was posting about our Christmas, and now it is almost 6 months later. I guess time flies when you're having fun!

We had a really fun week leading up to Easter this year. My mom came down to watch the kids while I had some dental work done, so I made sure to take advantage of the extra help and to do some fun Easter activities with the kids. First of all, we decided to color some eggs. They didn't quite turn out the way we wanted, but the kids loved participating and that is definitely all that matters.

We also decided to make Easter sugar cookies. It is certainly a tradition in our family to make sugar cookies for every holiday. Even though it is somewhat time-consuming and definitely not good on the figure, the kids love to help decorate them and share them with our neighbors.

A couple of nights before Easter, the Easter Bunny showed up right on our doorstep and handed out candy to the kids. They were a little scared of him/her (what is the gender of the Easter Bunny?), but managed to keep it together for a picture and of course, a piece of candy.

Easter morning, the kids found their Easter baskets with all of their goodies inside. Dillon got a White Angry Bird, a Spiderman action figure, Ratatouille DVD, and some tennis balls. Braylon got a Hot Wheels Dinosaur Track, a Max and Ruby DVD, a Spiderman action figure, and a T-Rex book. Sadie got Pinkalicious, Tangled, and a Little People Blocks set. They were definitely spoiled!

After our little Easter, the kids and I headed to Idaho Falls to celebrate Easter with our families. They were once again spoiled by both Grandparents. Here they are vigorously searching for eggs at Grandma Griffith's house.

Last weekend, Jarom's mom came down to Logan to spend a couple of days with us. We decided to go to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City. Here are the boys with Grandma Johnson, riding on the train.

The Boys riding on the Rhino statue.

The kids love the Carousel there. Too bad they only got to ride it once since it is $2.00 per person per ride. Ridiculous!

There is also a cute playground that the kids love.

After the zoo, we went to the Gateway Mall. We didn't really have much luck shopping, so we decided to go down to those water spout/fountain things to watch all of the crazy kids getting drenched. As we were watching, I could tell that Dillon and Braylon were looking at the kids in amazement and wondering why they were having so much fun. I'm one of those anal moms that strives to always have my kids look prim and proper and I don't typically like them to get dirty, or soaked for that matter. But, I could tell that they wanted to participate in that fun SO badly, so I told them to have a ball. They absolutely loved it, and I'm glad that I was able to let loose for a few minutes and to just let them have fun. I think I need to do that more often.

Sadie enjoyed the fun from the stroller.

After the mall, we went to the Red Iguana which is an excellent Mexican dive, downtown Salt Lake City. After that, we went home. It was such a fun day, and I'm so glad that we were able to enjoy it with Jarom's mom. She isn't able to come down here very often, so every chance we get with her, we try to do something fun. The kids are so lucky to have both sets of grandparents around to make memories with.
