Christmas Weekend

The days leading up before Christmas are always the most exciting ones in our family. It seems like our lives are consumed with holiday baking, last minute Christmas shopping, and fun, family get-togethers. We always try to squeeze in every last bit of Christmas cheer as it only comes once a year.
A few days before Christmas, we decided to let the kids make their own gingerbread houses. Now, since I have experienced many disastrous gingerbread house collapses due to heavy gingerbread pieces, we decided that in order to avoid children meltdowns, we should probably stick to graham cracker "gingerbread houses." Sadie needed a little help with hers, but the boys were able to build theirs on their own. I think they turned out really cute.
A couple of nights later, I made real gingerbread cookies and let the kids decorate their own gingerbread man/woman.

We went to Idaho Falls on December 22, and we quickly got back into the Christmas baking frenzy by making this sugar cookie Christmas tree. It turned out a little crooked, but it was definitely a lot of fun making and decorating.
The next day, we headed out to Ririe to visit Jarom's Grandpa and Grandma Hill. We aren't able to visit them much, but every time we do, Grandma Hill always has a great Christmas gift for the kids that definitely put a smile on their faces. We always cherish the moments that we have with them.
On Christmas Eve, we quickly got the kids into their holiday outfits and we headed over to Grandpa Johnson's house for a delicious Christmas Eve breakfast.
After breakfast, all of the family opened their presents from one another. Sadie got this cute apron from Uncle Dave and Aunt Jamie.
Braylon loved his dinosaurs that he got from Dave and Jamie.
I got this Doodle Bear for cousin Avery and Sadie was a bit confused because she has been playing with it (in its package) for the last couple of months while it has been in my closet. She obviously thought that it was hers and didn't quite understand the "giving presents to others" concept.
Dillon got a red, Angry Bird from Grandpa and Grandma Johnson which he now sleeps with every night.

On Christmas Eve night, the kids opened their Christmas pajamas. This is probably my favorite moment during the holidays. I love watching the kids getting into their new, warm and cozy pajamas and seeing the excitement and antipication in their eyes for Santa to come in the next few hours. I love seeing them overwhelmed with pure joy and happiness...priceless!
Santa definitely made an appearance!

On Christmas morning, the kids woke up around 7:30 and quickly ran out to the living room to see the presents. In the past few years on Christmas, Jarom and I would join in on the chaos and just let the kids go crazy opening their presents. Well, this year, I wanted to have the kids open their presents (at least the big ones), that I so tirelessly thought about and shopped for, one by one, so that I could see their excited expressions on their little faces.
Braylon definitely got everything that he asked for.
Sadie was definitely spoiled as well.

I had a picture of Dillon on here with all of his gifts as well, but I just accidently deleted it, and I don't really feel like going through the trouble of uploading it again, so I'll just say that he was definitely spoiled too.
After our Christmas dinner at my parent's house, we headed out to Dave and Jamie's house for a quick visit. Here is Sadie in her cute, Christmas dress.
It was definitely bittersweet to see Christmas come and go, but we are definitely excited to see what the new year has in store for us. We are already busy planning Jarom's trip to Baltimore next weekend, my sister's wedding in March, and a Disneyland trip in April. 2012, here we come!
