Halloween Weekend

We spent the weekend before Halloween in Idaho Falls as there are plenty of fun, trick-or-treating activities for little kids. Also, we never want to miss an opportunity to spend time with our families. We got into town on Friday and we immediately had to get the kids into their costumes so that we could get a decent spot in the eternal line for Trick-or-Treat Steet. Trick-or-Treat Street is an opportunity for kids to do some early trick-or-treating down a street that has tons of vendors who are handing out crappy candy. It is definitely not worth the long wait, but somehow, we always talk ourselves into going.

This year, Dillon was Captain America!

Braylon was Spiderman!

Sadie was a Strawberry Fairy!

We met Jarom's sister, Jamie, and three of her kids there. It was nice to have some company while we waited in line. Sadie was a little nervous about the vampires behind her.

On Saturday, after Sadie's birthday party, Jarom suggested that we should go to the local zoo's Halloween event, "Boo at the Zoo." We had heard a lot of good things about it, so we decided to check it out.

These are the only pictures I was able to get while we were there as the crowd was so large that I didn't even have enough elbow room to get my camera out. Needless to say, we probably won't be going back to that event, but that's what we say about Trick-or-Treat Street too and we always manage to find ourselves there again. So, who knows!

Jarom's mom and my mom were brave enough to fight the crowd with us.

On Halloween, I woke up and made the kids orange, jack-o-lantern pancakes for breakfast.

Then, we headed out to a local bakery here called Kneaders, and I let the kids pick out a Halloween goodie.

And of course, we had to pick up our jack-o-lantern pizza from Papa Murphys. Our local Papa Murphys was handing out mini pizzas for all of the trick or treaters that day, so we also got a free lunch for the next day. I was definitely excited about that!

After dinner, we dressed up the kids in their costumes and we were off to go trick-or-treating around our neighborhood.

Dillon was thrilled to find a Mario carved pumpkin on our trick-or-treating journey.

We definitely had a busy and fun-filled Halloween weekend. It's so fun to watch the kids get so excited for the many holiday events and activities that we plan. That's what makes some of these difficult and exhausting experiences worth it!
